We all have seen "perfect" morning routines all over social media. We fight ourselves for not having the same morning routine as someone on the internet. Maybe if someone could just tell us how to be perfect, we would have our lives together. Well in this post, I'll be giving you some tips on how to create a perfect morning routine that suits you and your lifestyle.

Waking up at the perfect time
Waking up at the perfect time does not mean waking up at 6 or even 5 in the morning just like the people on social media. If waking up at 5 or 6 in the morning works for you and your lifestyle. If waking up at 8 am works better for you, then do so! There are no rights or wrongs in creating the perfect morning routine.
What matters first thing in the morning? (15 -30 mins)
When you wake up, is eating the first thing you'd like to do? Perhaps, listening to music or taking a shower is better. Whatever it is that you do first, make sure that it will give your body some fuel, movement or simply keep your mind awake. Avoid getting on your phone or other devices for the first hour of the day.
Top 3 things to do (30 mins)
Other than the first thing in the morning, what are three things that you would like to incorporate into your morning routine? Some ideas can be reading, journaling, praying, working out, or simply going for a walk before the day starts. Pick three things to do every day for at least 10 minutes each. That's only 30 minutes of your time!
Self-Care (30 mins - 2 hours)
This time section of your morning should include brushing your teeth, doing your hair, changing out of your pajamas, and doing your skincare and makeup. You have been doing your hair, makeup, skincare, and other self-care for years. Perhaps you feel like you do not have the time to do it all. If you're a busy bee like myself, it can be difficult to find time to do so. I have an estimate of how long it takes me to do all of these. Depending on your personality, you might not do makeup. If you're going to the gym, putting your hair in a braid or ponytail is much faster. It will be a trial and error but once you find your estimated time, you can use this knowledge to calculate the time you need to wake up.
Remember a perfect morning routine starts the night before. Before going to bed, prepare your work bag, gym bag, or purse along with your lunch or snacks for the day. Getting a good night's sleep will help you to feel refreshed in the morning. If going to work, add that time to your worksheet. Let's say that my shift starts at 9 am, I know that it takes me about 30 minutes (with traffic) to drive to work, meaning I have to leave at 8:30 am. I know that it takes me about an hour to do my self-care, 30 minutes for my top 3 things to do, and another 30 minutes for breakfast (the first thing that matters to me in the morning). My morning routine adds up to 2 meaning that I have to wake up at 6:30 am at the latest.
The perfecting morning routine will not happen overnight nor will it happen within the week. Be patient with yourself and remember that each time you practice your mourning routine, you will be better until it is perfect.
I hope you enjoy this and find it helpful!
Love,
Mari
